Voltaren works by blocking the production of a substance called prostaglandin E2, an enzyme in the body that produces pain and inflammation. Voltaren is taken orally, usually once a day, and it can be taken with or without food. It is important to take Voltaren at the same time each day to avoid stomach upset. Voltaren works best when it is taken once a day, with or without food. Voltaren is usually taken once a day with or at a time set according to your healthcare needs. Common side effects may include drowsiness, headache, dizziness, flushing, upset stomach, blurred vision or sensitivity to light, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. If you experience severe side effects, such as painful urination, liver damage, heart failure, or migraine headaches, stop taking the medication and contact a doctor immediately. Voltaren can only be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women. The safety and effectiveness of Voltaren in these patients have not been confirmed.
